Igudesman and Joo - And Now Mozart @ Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts | Muskegon | Michigan | United States

In this West Michigan Symphony special presentation, the world of classical music will be explored in ways you have never imagined…

Combining musical artistry with full-out slapstick, the musical comedy duo Igudesman & Joo will spoof the music of the master in a program that, according to the duo, “will contain absolutely NO Mozart!”

Often called the successors to such classical comedic forefathers as Victor Borge and P.D.Q. Bach, violinist Aleksey Igudesman and pianist Hyung-ki Joo take great pleasure in overturning traditional attitudes toward classical music. Like the musical humorists who have gone before them, they are brilliant performers whose technical expertise is as impressive as their comedic talents. The New York Times said of their debut with the New York Philharmonic:

“Their blend of classical music and comedy, laced with pop culture references and a wholly novel take on the word slapstick, is fueled by genuine, dazzling virtuosity.”

This classically trained yet irreverent music and comedy team will strip the formality from classical music, leaving you laughing in the aisles.

This show is a special engagement by the West Michigan Symphony and is not part of the season ticket package.
