Building exhibitions around works from the permanent collection is a high priority. These study shows, such as Doorways: A Passage through the Permanent Collection, are often organized thematically and developed to expand our knowledge and appreciation of artworks in the MMA’s ever-expanding quality holdings. Through a selection of paintings, sculpture, prints, and photographs, Doorways addresses, even challenges, our preconceived notions of doors as common thresholds we cross into our homes and workplaces.
